Lebanese Club at UVA Hosts First Event

On November 20, 2011, the newly formed Lebanese Club at the University of Virginia (UVA) hosted its first event, a Lebanese Independence Day dinner.

This past September, the club was founded in order to celebrate Lebanese traditions, art, cuisine, and holidays, while simultaneously promoting them at UVA. The first annual Lebanese Independence Day Feast joined students and professors to enjoy traditional Lebanese dishes, such as hummus, fattoush, and falafel, catered by Charlottesville’s very own, Basil restaurant. Along with enjoying fine Lebanese cuisine and forming new bonds, attendees embraced the Lebanese culture and the night by dancing the folk-dance, Dabke.

Hosting a dinner in honor of Lebanon’s Independence is the first of many events that UVA’s Lebanese Club hopes to hold.
