The Lebanese Collegiate Network has kicked off the new fiscal year with three professional mixers in three different states: Washington D.C, Michigan and California. The outcome of each of these events, once again made us realize, how great it is to partner with big organizations like the Network of Arab-American Professionals (D.C. and L.A.), the Lebanese American Heritage Club and L.A. Cedars Rotaract. It is always our pleasure to plan events like these in many different states and make sure that our professionals and alumni members are well involved with the LCN.
Additionally to all the professional events, we have three different LCN luncheons planned before the month of March. Luncheons are events we put together for our students members, to share all the work they have done in their university and community during the past 12 months and learn more about the different clubs and what has made them successful. The Los Angeles luncheon took place on January 28th at Phoenicia Restaurant in Glendale where a record number of Lebanese Clubs from as far as Berkeley presented about their activities. Our next luncheon is in at Kababji-Grill on February 5th, 2012. We are very excited to see all our members on both coasts and learn more about their clubs’ activities!
This year’s LCN convention is taking place at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California on March 30th till April 1st. The planning for our greatest event of the year has started several months ago, and we are very confident that with the tremendous efforts from our convention committee at LMU, we are going to have a very successful convention! The Academic Excellence and Heritage Award and Most Outstanding ULC award are now open. Prizes are $1,000 and $500 respectively. Each year students and ULC’s compete to take home the prestigious award and hold bragging rights! This year, LCN is going beyond the collegiate realm and honoring Alumni that are nominated by the ULCs themselves. Applications are due February 20th, 2012. Apply today by visiting: www.mylcn.org
Our 2013 Convention location is still up for grabs: Is your University Lebanese Club ready for the LCN Convention Challenge? Be in the LCN’s history books and apply to host the 2013 Convention. The LCN is always eager to be in new places, work with new faces and spread awareness. Applications are due February 22nd 2012 and are available online at mylcn.org.
My experience with the LCN for the past two years has taught me that nothing can be possible without teamwork. I could not be more happy and proud of the awesome board I am leading this year. It completely reflects the fact that finding good players is easy, but getting to play as a team is the most important thing. It is our pleasure to announce that all the board positions are now open for you to apply. Hurry, elections will take place at the annual convention in March!
I wish you all the best of luck, and I am eager to see everyone at LMU for the 5th Annual LCN convention!
