LCN10 LebNet MS Project
The purpose of this workshop was to give a basic Microsoft project tutorial as well as introduce basic project management concepts such as: resources, workload estimation, load balancing, time estimation, risk assessment, risk management, deliverables, human factors and people management.
LebNet member Cyril Habis, a project manager from the San Jose area, conducted the workshop with the help of LCN past president Patrick Sislian and LCN treasurer Sevag Sislian.
The workshop introduced a simple project management problem and required the audience to use Microsoft Project to build a schedule, set deliverables and dates and plan good execution using milestones, intermediate checkpoints and adequate metrics.
There are no right or wrong answers or perfect project plans; the idea was to make the audience aware of key factors that need to be considered in order to successfully plan and run a project. The students participated in the workshop by providing input on resources, tasks and scheduling conflicts as well ideas on how to deal with unreliable resources and maintaining positive team spirit.
Please refer to the downloads section above for more detailed information on Project Management and using MS Project.
The LCN extends its gratitude to Cyril Habis and LebNet for volunteering and conducting this workshop for the benefit of the LCN student members. Learn more about LebNet on Linked In.
