LCN10 Fundraising for your ULC
"Establishing relationships with local businesses and University’s finance board is an important task to the students of the University Lebanese Clubs. These are great sources of support in terms of financial assistance, in-kind help, discounts and prizes. They can also play a significant role in helping the student organization integrate into the community and build bridges between the young student leaders and their community professionals”
This was the main goal or message that LCN Fundraising Workshop presenters, wanted to get to the students who attended LCN'10 convention. This series of four workshops were organized by LCN VP of Events Thalia Jarjour and LCN VP of Public Relations Rami Haddad, with the support of a LCN past officer and co-Founder Ramzi Nasr.
Four workshops of 30 minutes each included interactive strategy to get the students involved and trained on how to answer unexpected questions from people they have to deal with on regular basis and know little about their organization. Every workshop session included 20 students, who were split into 2 teams and had to compete by convincing the finance board to allocate money based on their request to fund an event for their University Lebanese Club.
The students were challenged while presenting their proposals to the fake potential sponsors. They were evaluated based on their professionalism, clarity, and persuasion method to receive funding and meeting their community expectations.
LCN students were very satisfied by these workshops and asked to have them again at next year's convention.
Useful tips and materials were distributed to the students in their binders, such as a sponsorship request letter and statistical information they can use to get help from other University Lebanese Clubs on how they received money in the past and what strategies they used.
