The Website Workshop reviewed the general ideas of domain names, web hosting and different types of websites. The workshop also entailed going through a live website building demonstration using Google Sites. The aim of the workshop is to enable a selective group of students to be able to build and effortlessly update their ULC websites. The information and techniques provided are simple and easy so that they maybe passed on year on year.

The LCN VP of Information Technology Karim Khoury, hosted the workshop. He went through a quick introduction about the basic components needed to start a website and the concepts of domain names, domain registrars, hosting servers, and how they are linked together. Then he continued to describe the different types of websites and platforms and the expertise needed for each, and how one can purchase a domain on hosts such as GoDaddy.com.

After the brief introduction to web basics, Karim conducted a live demo by building a website using google sites and showed the different features offered. As the demo emphasized, no prior coding and web design experience is required or needed.. An important and relevant feature that he showed was the dashboard object for action items that ULCs can make use of on their websites to better manage their activities and meetings.

The workshop was successful because it cleared some ambiguities that most attendees had. Furthermore, the LCN received feedback from attendees stating that they purchased their own domain names and that they are currently setting up a google site.
