The Running an Effective Meeting Workshop reviews a set of parliamentary procedures as depicted by Robert’s Rules of Order. The workshop is carried out n the form of a scripted Mock Meeting conducted by a group of individuals. A moderator pauses the meeting intermittently and asks the audience questions about how a certain incident should have been carried out.

The LCN VP of Events, Serge Haddad, acted as the activity moderator, pausing the meeting and providing insight on the errors committed. The LCN board with the help of CSU Pomona ULC President Leina Saikali, enacted the mock meeting.

The LCN Board is guilty of having a little fun during the convention.  The board tested their acting abilities for the benefit of the membership.  The scene was set.  A disorganized meeting in a distracting venue.  The goal was to educate the membership on how to conduct an effective meeting.  The actors illustrated the benefits of Parliamentary Procedures as dictated by the Robert’s Rules of Order by displaying what not to do.  Certain “no-no’s” included starting a meeting late and not submitting agendas in a timely fashion.   The membership tackled questions such as, how do you initiate a motion?  How is it passed?  When should a meeting start?   The event was meant to be both fun and educational

This experience was new to most of the membership.  Many University Lebanese Clubs unfortunately do not know the recommended format of agendas and minutes, nor do they know how to manage a controversial discussion during a meeting.  The LCN Board hopes that their theatrical show shed some light on this world of Parliamentary Procedure.  Each member in attendance received a summarized pamphlet of Robert’s Rules.
